Aaron Burch

Aaron is genuinely curious about the human side of business and life. At Square One, he harnesses that inquisitiveness to draw out the 'why' behind his clients’ desires to get an MBA. Through his personal travels and military service, he's met people from all walks of life and learned that thoughtful questions can help unlock each person’s unique story. He's passionate about guiding clients to sharing their best, authentic selves through their applications in order to showcase their fit with schools.

Given his fascination with Legos and taking things apart as a kid, it was natural for Aaron to study Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University. He then served as an officer in the United States Navy, where he developed his leadership skills and managed tens of millions of dollars of planning, construction, and building maintenance projects.

While he was admitted everywhere he applied, he chose to earn his MBA at the McCombs School of Business. His keen understanding of the MBA admissions process stems from his time as an Admissions Committee member at McCombs where he interviewed dozens of MBA applicants. After McCombs, Aaron worked on supply chain, retail strategy, and business process outsourcing engagements at Deloitte Consulting. He later led deal sourcing, deal evaluation, and client outreach efforts for a small private equity shop. Currently, he owns and operates a digital product business in the architecture industry. Throughout his career he’s learned that understanding people and effectively communicating are some of the most valuable competencies a business person can develop for their career.

A life-long learner and adventurer, Aaron has taken multi-day courses in things as varied as free-diving, rally car driving, and paraglider flying. He’s most happy exploring international destinations, riding on-road and off-road motorcycles, and spending time at his West Texas ranch.
