Beth Foster has been an educator and coach for over ten years and loves helping her Square One clients achieve their aspirations through careful introspection, creativity, and pragmatic goal-setting. An experienced editor and project manager, Beth makes sure her clients stay on track while developing exceptional, holistic applications.
Beth began her career as a teacher and youth development professional. In addition to teaching various high school subjects, she led leadership development trainings and supported her students during the college application process. Her experience as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Rwanda motivated her to move into the field of social entrepreneurship and impact investing. She is currently the East Africa Portfolio Associate at EWB Ventures, an early stage impact fund, where she leads their investing work in Uganda and Kenya and coaches entrepreneurs on how to grow their businesses, be stronger managers, and raise financing.
Beth has an MBA from Berkeley-Haas and studied Political Science and Economics at Middlebury College. She graduated from Haas in the top 10% of her class and received a scholarship as a Finance Fellow. Having applied to top schools without a business background, Beth knows the importance of clearly articulating your story during the application process and works with her clients to ensure that their applications fully capture their passions and career goals.
Originally from New York, Beth now lives in Kampala, Uganda and travels throughout Sub-Saharan Africa for her work. She loves trying new cuisines wherever she travels and is always on the search for a new trail to hike. She volunteers as an alumni interviewer for both Middlebury and Haas.
