Jessica Bell van der Wal is eager to help prospective students tell their stories and achieve their personal goals, including attending a top business school. In terms of her style, she offers both an encouraging and no-nonsense type of guidance to her clients.
Jessica has 15+ years of experience as a cross-functional executive, team leader and operator with deep expertise across all sectors of health care. Most recently, Jessica founded her own management consulting firm, vdB Consulting, LLC, where she leverages her knowledge of growth stage companies like Castlight in combination with her experience at Genentech, Nike, Inc. and Deloitte Consulting, to advise health care / technology companies along the start-up journey.
She is passionate about supporting others, which is reflected by her board and leadership experience with Girls on the Run, 2020 Women on Boards, UNC’s Gillings School of Public Health, Harvard Business School’s Women’s Student and Alumni Associations and Women on Boards Executive Education program as well as her work in Africa with The Arusha Foundation, which enables women with HIV to start their own businesses using microfinance loans.
Jessica received a Bachelor of Science in Public Health from UNC Chapel Hill and an MBA from Harvard Business School. She has lived in many cities across the US and abroad but is now located In her hometown of Charlotte, NC with her husband and dog. She loves being active outside whether that’s hiking in Nepal or just taking a stroll through the neighborhood, and she always loves when the walk ends with trying a new restaurant or bar.
