John loves guiding people to achieve their goals. Having mentored candidates through the admission process for the past several years, both on his own and with Square One Prep, and read 100+ applications as a student admission reader at Kellogg, John knows the power of a “perfect” application as well as how both small and large redirects can markedly change an application, and its impact with admissions committees. . In addition to helping US candidates, he has worked with military veterans and international applicants through their application process.
John works as a healthcare consultant providing strategy for the payer and provider space. He is a US Army veteran having served as a commissioned officer. His interest in the healthcare industry has provided him opportunities to do various research studies and volunteer work with rural hospitals and clinics in Korea, Tijuana, Guatemala, and Brazil.
John has an MBA from Kellogg School of Management, a Master of Public Health from the University of Southern California, and a Bachelors in Molecular Cell Biology from UC Berkeley. While at Kellogg, he sat on the admissions committee and is currently an Alumni interviewer for the West Coast.
John resides in sunny California. Having been raised in Los Angeles, he is a fan of all Los Angeles sports teams, including the most recent addition: the LA Chargers. He enjoys the outdoors and spends his free time camping and reading science-fiction novels. He also earned a 3rd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, swam with sharks in the Galapagos, and bungee-jumped off of the Victoria Falls bridge.
