Leena Patel strives to build deep, personal connections with her clients so they are comfortable sharing their life experiences, including their vulnerabilities. Why? Because she knows that each client has a unique and compelling story. She also knows that articulating that story in MBA applications requires incredible introspection to understand the drivers behind each client's life choices and then thoughtfully connect the dots into a story that resonates with admissions committees.
Leena has a BSBA from UNC-Chapel Hill and an MBA from Harvard Business School. Before HBS, she was a finance manager at Procter and Gamble where she worked on brand management, sales, supply chain, and global business services finance. Although she will forever be committed to P&G brands, her desire to work on complex problems across industries in fast-paced teams led her to transition into a consulting career at McKinsey and Company post MBA.
Leena shares Mandela’s belief that “education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” As an eight-year-old immigrant in a traditional Gujarati family in which women were groomed for good matrimony matches rather than professional aspirations, she did not expect to complete college much less an MBA. She attributes her educational and professional success to the many trusted advisors who believed in her more than she believed in herself and helped her realize her potential beyond her own imagination. She joined the Square One Prep team so she can be a trusted advisor for her clients and pay the impact forward. She is deeply committed to helping her clients succeed with the application process so they can change the world.
Leena lives in Durham, NC and, when not working, loves cooking, playing boardgames, enjoying the outdoors (running, hiking, badminton), and traveling (40+ new cities in 40 months) with her fiancé and their friends.
