An empathetic listener who knows how to tap into people’s vulnerabilities, Mandy Zhang listens to her clients and asks inquisitive questions to help them deeply reflect on their experiences. A firm believer in authenticity, Mandy takes the time to uncover her clients’ individual stories and then help them craft applications that capture those stories effectively. A Chinese national who moved to the US during her teenage years, Mandy particularly enjoys helping international applicants highlight their unique cultural upbringings.
Mandy holds a Bachelor of Industrial & Labor Relations from Cornell University and an MBA from Harvard Business School, where she received the Goldsmith Fellowship at HBS, awarded to candidates who exhibit leadership and an extraordinary commitment to working in the social impact sector. Mandy is excited to support clients to increase their chances of receiving scholarships.
Mandy is a cross-cultural impact investor in the US, Latin America and China. At Total Impact Capital, Mandy spearheaded the efforts to structure an agriculture impact fund investing in Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in El Salvador. She started the first social enterprise incubator in Beijing, China to help social entrepreneurs develop their business models and secure impact investments. Further, she provided consulting services to the Asian Development Bank to search for inclusive businesses in China that create jobs for the bottom of the pyramid population. Prior to her impact investing career, Mandy worked at Morgan Stanley Hong Kong doing equity electronic trading.
In her free time, Mandy explores mindfulness practices, such as yoga and meditation, travels (40 countries and counting!), and paints, as she loves Impressionist art. Mandy is fluent in Chinese.
