Emily Manges

Perhaps a bit unusual for many MBA candidates, I started my career at The Museum of Modern Art in NYC, where I not only honed my writing chops among art history PhDs, but also witnessed how powerful storytelling through exhibitions could fundamentally reshape historical narratives. While I quickly pivoted to tech, this experience laid the foundation for my later work with early- and growth-stage startups, where I observed firsthand how compelling narratives could make or break a company—whether in pitch decks or recruitment conversations.

I am passionate about storytelling and use this skill at Square One to help my clients - both traditional and nontraditional - discover and develop their unique voices. I’m empathetic, balancing supportive guidance with candid feedback. My strength lies in getting into the weeds while remaining strategic about the big picture. I believe most people can achieve great feats, and I encourage my clients to approach their applications with a growth mindset.

I graduated from Skidmore College with a BA in Art History and Harvard Business School with an MBA. At HBS I founded a genAI venture as a Rock Summer Fellow, served on the Women’s Student Association board, and led as President of the HBS Art Society. To stay involved with art since HBS, I’ve served as the Founding Chairwoman of a junior board for the Tang Museum.

In my free time, I love exploring New York City, skiing when there’s snow, and reading up on the latest frontier tech innovations.
